DB Billy Riddle
5-11, 180, 4.5
Davie County High School
Mocksville, North Carolina
Since our last update of Billy Riddle, not much has changed. "I'm still looking at Wake, Clemson, and Carolina," Riddle said. "I've been to their junior days and some spring games. I went to the Tennessee spring game as well. I've liked them a lot and also there's Duke."
What schools does Riddle favor at this point?
"Wake and Clemson are my two favorites right now," Riddle said. And why? "Wake, it's close to home and it's a smaller program," he said. "I'm used to that, living in a small town. The defense they run is similar to the defense I run so I'm familiar with it. Also, they want me to play safety while others want me to play corner. I'm more comfortable with safety. And Clemson, Clemson is a great place to play football with the atmosphere and the fans. It's just a great place for football."
Although Riddle does not have any offers yet, schools are showing heavy interest. "Coach Grobe came by to talk to my coach the other day," Riddle said. "I'm going to the Wake one-day skill camp and my coach said if I did well there then they might offer. Also, I'm going to the Nike Camp on the 17th so I'll hopefully turn some heads there too."
Riddle tells us that he would like to make a decision before his senior season begins. "I'd prefer to make [a decision] before football season so I could get it over and focus on my team," Riddle said. "Then I can play for my school instead of college recruiters."
Riddle plays safety in high school, but at 5-11 and close to 180 pounds he projects at corner on the next level. He has excellent quickness with a true 4.5 forty, and he is extremely physical. He benched 185 16 times as a sophomore at the Nike Camp last spring.
We will continue to keep you updated on the recruitment of Billy Riddle, right up through signing day 2004.
