Three-star SG interested in Clemson

With several offers already to his name, this three-star shooting guard from High Point, N.C. has yet to pick one up from Clemson. But that hasn't kept him from having plenty of interest in the Tigers.

Wesleyan Christian Academy senior shooting guard Montay Brandon holds offers from South Carolina, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Appalachian State, Liberty, UNC-Wilmington, Cleveland State, Tennessee Tech, High Point and Gardner-Webb.

Clemson assistant Mike Winiecki, who serves as the recruiter of note for Brandon, has evaluated the 6-foot-4, 180-pound senior several times.

"Coach [Brad] Brownell hasn't seen me play yet," Brandon recently told

He and Winiecki last spoke "about a week ago."

"We were basically talking about trying to get me down to campus. Where I would play at Clemson and how I would fit in there," Brandon said.

He would play a variety of positions.

"I could just be versatile—get the ball, push it," Brandon said. "I could run the point, be on the wing sometimes. That's basically what [Winiecki] was saying.

The No. 22 shooting guard in the class of 2012, according to, plays AAU ball on the Georgia Stars with Clemson commitment Jaron Blossomgame.

"He talks about them all the time," Brandon said. "He said it's a great school. He always talks about the environment. If you go there, all you do is just work on your game—there aren't too many distractions there."

As a junior at Wesleyan Christian Academy, he averaged 20 points six assists and five rebounds. Top Stories
