It's been a productive July evaluation period for Edisto High School power forward Brice Johnson, the state's top 2012 prospect.

For the longest time, Clemson, Florida and South Carolina were the only high-major offers for the 6-foot-9, 190-pound big from Cordova.

But now, Connecticut and Ohio State have also stepped forward with offers. He believes there are others.

"I've got to check. Coaches have been calling me, but my phone's been acting up. I've probably got a bunch of new ones, though," Johnson recently told CUTigers.com.

The Scout.com four-star, who's ranked as the No. 16 power forward in 2012, said it was the early portion of the evaluation period that's helped his stock.

"I did well for myself," he said. "I was just playing with a lot more energy."

Earlier this week, Johnson spoke with Clemson head coach Brad Brownell and assistant coach Earl Grant.

"We were just talking about how well I did," Johnson said of his conversation with Brownell.

With Grant, "we just talked like we always do."

Clemson remains one of the favorites at this point, but Johnson maintains that he's considering all suitors.

"I know the coaching staff. I've been up there a couple of times," he said.

Florida, he said, is recruiting him the hardest.

Johnson, who plans on making a decision before the start of his high school season, has not thought about schools he would like to see officially.
