Saturday Dabo Swinney audio

CLEMSON - Dabo Swinney discusses Saturday's stadium scrimmage, the first of preseason camp.

"Well, we've got a lot of work to do. You've got to start somewhere. It's our first scrimmage. We did some good things, did some bad things, kind of like you would expect. I think, defensively, for the most part, played pretty good today. Had a couple of mental lapses. I thought the defense was ready to go. Offensively, we had some individuals kind of stand-out. As a group, it was not our best day. We've had some better days, as a group. We did a lot of good individual things.

"Tajh [Boyd] was outstanding. [Andre] Ellington did good. Dwayne Allen had a nice day. Brandon Ford, Nuke Hopkins. Bryce [McNeal] had a nice catch. We just had some critical errors that would cost us if we were playing today. I was a little disappointed in that.

"Kicking was outstanding. I don't really know how many kicks we attempted, but I don't think we missed one. I don't remember them missing one, to be honest with you. [Chandler] Catanzaro has put a nice few days together. Ammon [Lakip] is competing his tail off as well. That was good to see. We worked all phases of the kicking game. We did live kickoff, return, punt and punt return. We punted backed up, just tried to get a lot of things done on this first scrimmage.

"We had a lot of guys out. We had three graduates missing. I'm really proud of them. Landon Walker, Kourtnei Brown and Rashard Hall. Rashard, he graduated in three years. I'm really proud of those guys. We had a couple of guys who were out, due to injury today.

"Again, good first scrimmage. We'll watch the film, grade it, bring them back tonight, try to put this one to bed, learn from it and go from there." Top Stories
