Do you feel like your guys played better today than in the first scrimmage?
Morris: We definitely showed a lot of improvement. We were a lot more physical. We played faster so that's a plus. Getting our players to understand that there's a plan in place and to believe in that plan. It may not go exactly how we want it to go early on. But they are starting to understand what we are doing. They are starting to grasp that. Grasp the understanding of how we do things. Our players came out today focused and ready.

Did Tajh Boyd take a step forward?
Morris: Tajh is having a really really good camp. This is the second full scrimmage, to where he has yet to ... knock on wood ... turn the ball over. He's doing what we need to do to win the game. He's managing the game. That's what we said coming into the season. He doesn't have to win the game for us. But manage this game. Get the ball to our playmakers. In this offense, that's what is so versatile to our offense is that we have so many ways to get the ball to our playmakers. Again, you have to stay on him and you have to keep coaching hard but we are taking big steps right now and we have to continue do that. And that's what you like to see.

"The ball is not going to one person. It's being spread all over the field."

Who were your playmakers today?
Morris: Wow. We had a lot of them. A lot of them. Brandon Ford made some catches. Jaron Brown. Charone Peake. Sammy Watkins made a great run and a couple of great catches. I'm going to miss some. Andre [Ellington] had some good things happen. Dwayne Allen made some great catches. The ball is not going to one person. It's being spread all over the field. A lot of that has to do with confidence.

When would you like to have an idea of who will be the first unit?
Morris: Well I'm going to be out there calling plays. Tajh is going to be there. Dalton [Freeman] will be out there. It's hard to say right now. But I will say this in this offense you have to have suitable backups and we've taken huge steps there. And I noticed that today. It's hard to name starters right now. I have a great idea but I'm not going to share that with y'all if that's OK. We have an idea, but we have guys pushing those guys too.

Do you have an idea of the true freshmen that will play?
Morris: Oh yeah. Yeah. There will be a few that will get on the field playing. The guys we've been mentioning who have been making plays. You'll see those guys this year no doubt about that.

When you compare where you are installing this offense here at Clemson to where you were this time last year at Tulsa ... are you ahead of that schedule or behind? How would you compare the two?
Morris: You know, we are right where we need to be. I would say we are probably a little ahead of schedule to be honest with you. I didn't think they would grasp this much and allow us to progress as fast as we have. It just shows you that they worked extremely hard this summer studying film and doing things on their own.
