DT Josh Brown Profile
Dabo Swinney informed the 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive tackle of the Clemson offer in their pre-game meeting.
"Words can't really describe it...I personally didn't expect Clemson's offer before their first game. That's big for me," Brown told CUTigers.com on Sunday.
The night before, Clemson defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks scouted him in South Aiken's 35-18 win over Midland Valley.
"I think I had -- the whole team had a great game. I had a couple of tackles, here and there," Brown said. "I guess coach Brooks saw something that he liked...I tried not to think about him being there."
Maryland, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and N.C. State are also expressing interest. Georgia State, VMI and PC have offered.
Another FBS offer could be on the way soon.
"I'm thinking Maryland should be coming soon. Competition wise, they've been with Clemson," Brown said. "I talked to Maryland two weeks ago. They told me they were going to watch some of my games and my highlights, and they would get back at me about their options and how they see me in the future."
His commitment won't be announced for several months.
"Basically, I'm going to wait until the end of my season," Brown said. "I don't want any more stress than I have now, besides winning. My team really needs me, so I can't lose focus by thinking about college right now.
"I think it's best for me to wait until after my season is over. That's when I'm going to make my commitment."
How the decision will be announced has already been decided.
"I'm going to first tell my head coach, Jeremy West. He did everything to help me. I owe him the first answer," Brown said. "Then, my mom. I'm going to tell my whole team where I'm going. That's when I'll get up with everybody else."
Who leads, in order?
"Clemson, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Maryland and North Carolina State," he said.
