DE Davaris McGowens Profile
Eastside High School [Taylors] junior defensive end Davaris McGowens finished his second high school football game on Friday night.
On Saturday, he was in Clemson for the season opener against Troy.
"It was good down there," McGowens told CUTigers.com. "I enjoyed every minute of it. I met all the coaches. I liked the facilities they have, the weight room, the locker room -- all of that. I had a good time there. I got to speak with some of the players also."
Most of his conversations with coaches were with defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks, who oversees McGowens' portion of the Upstate.
Brooks introduced the 6-foot-5, 225-pound junior to defensive ends coach Marion Hobby.
"They were just telling me about how that they were going to start evaluating me during my junior year, my film and stuff," McGowens said.
Clemson is the first and only school that's expressed interest in him as a football player. McGowens, a basketball prospect, has an offer from Jacksonville. Clemson, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and PC are also interested.
A return trip to Tigertown as a football recruit is already in the works.
"I'm going to try to get back down there as soon as possible," McGowens said." I'm going to have to give coach Brooks a call. I want to go down there when they play Florida State."
He has 11 tackles through two games at Eastside.
