Four-star LB set for Clemson official

For the Florida State game this weekend, Clemson will host this four-star defender who's currently committed to Miami.

OLB Keith Brown Profile

Miami Norland High School senior outside linebacker Keith Brown, a Miami commitment, has discussed Clemson as an official visit destination for months.

"I like the program. I want to meet the coaches. I like the way they have started this year. They're undefeated," Brown told CUTigers.com recently.

The visit's been scheduled since the summer, shortly after Clemson defensive coordinator Kevin Steele stopped by his school during the May evaluation period.

"I got in contact with coach Steele," Brown said. "I was liking what he was saying. He wasn't promising me anything. He just told me if I go there and work hard there's a possibility I could earn a starting spot."

Steele has made a good impression on the Scout.com No. 12-ranked outside linebacker in the class of 2012.

"He's a cool guy," Brown said. "I have respect for him, he has respect for me. He's talked to my father. He was liking what he was saying. That's a lot to back it up."

His commitment to Miami remains solid, but Brown is looking around, just in case sanctions from the NCAA are handed down.

"I want to be prepared if anything happens that I'm not totally cool with," he said.

Florida State, LSU, Nebraska, Penn State, Purdue, Florida and Georgia are also receiving consideration.

His second official visit has been scheduled for Florida State, the weekend of Oct. 21-23.

As a junior, Brown had 142 tackles and four sacks.
