Clemson extends early offer

ACC rivals Clemson and Boston College are the only two offers for this sophomore defensive end from the Atlanta area.

Eagles Landing Christian Academy [McDonough] sophomore Andrew Williams picked up the two offers earlier this spring.

While the Tigers and Eagles are his only two, for now, several other schools have started to express interest. Ole Miss, Florida and Florida State are also keeping tabs on the 2014 defensive end.

"That means a lot to me," he told of his two offers. "I feel like I'm truly blessed to be able to get a chance, even though it's verbal, but to be able to get a chance to play at the next level.

"In the future, I feel like, if I keep going how I'm going, there's going to be much more along the line."

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound sophomore got an early start on the recruiting game. His brother, Anthony Williams, is a redshirt freshman defensive end at Georgia Tech.

Two years ago, the younger Williams got his first taste of Clemson while accompanying his big brother on a visit to Tigertown.

"Clemson, they have a great program. They keep in contact. Along with me, a couple of my other teammates have offers from them," he said. "They keep up with our weight... I think it's a good program. The coaches are great, great coaches."

Lately, he's been only to Georgia Tech. For each home game, Williams and his family head to Atlanta to watch his brother play.

"All my life I've been around Georgia Tech. It's a nice campus and nice facilities. They've been doing good lately. They have a good program," Williams said.

Clemson has offered him as a defensive end or offensive tackle.

"I would like to continue to play defense. Whatever any program leads me to, I'm willing to play," he said. "I feel like I'm equally good at both positions." Top Stories
