The Grimsley High School [Greensboro, N.C.] senior said it's those three schools that are currently recruiting him the hardest.

He has no preference for one side of the ball over another.

"I played a lot of defense this year, and I liked it a lot, so I'll probably end up liking defense a little bit more," Reader recently told

The 6-foot-3, 330-pound prospect made an unofficial visit to Clemson last month for the North Carolina game.

"It went really well. It was a great visit. It was good to get down there with the coaches and talk to them. i really liked it. It was a good time," he said.

What was the message sent by head coach Dabo Swinney?

"Coach Dabo is trying to run it fast, hard, challenging the players, demanding the best of the players. He's a coach that wants his players to give their best every day," Reader said.

The No. 26 offensive guard in the 2012 class visited Maryland this past weekend. That was an official visit.

"It was really a good visit. I had a lot of fun with the coaches and players. It was a great visit. I had a good time. It was a good official," Reader said. "They delivered a good message to me, with coach [Randy Edsall. What he asks for, it's something your parents would ask for."

North Carolina will host him for an official visit on the second weekend in January. An official to Clemson will also be made that month.
