Reidsville wide receiver Jerome Simpson is staying open to the schools recruiting him, but two may offer him soon according to his head coach. "North Carolina and Wake Forest are the two who are talking about offering early," said head coach Jim Teague.

"Oklahoma, Southern Cal, Notre Dame, and all of the local teams are recruiting him right now," added Teague. "He really is pretty open to everything, and that is going to make him more desireable for a lot of the schools."

While the Tar Heels and Deacons may be close to offering, Simpson's list of top schools includes the Clemson Tigers. "Clemson, N.C. State, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida are my current favorites," said Simpson.

As a junior for the Class 2A State Champions in North Carolina, Simpson registered 1,657 recieving yards and 17 touchdowns.

"My mom will be a big part of the decision," adds Simpson. "I am not going to decide alone - we will both make the decision at the same time. One of my cousins said I should make a decision early to get the pressure off of me, and I probably will decide early. You just never know."

Most experts view Simpson as a possession type receiver at the collegiate level, but he has one more year to prove that his skills warrant more than just the "possession" label.
