One of those stops in Charlotte, N.C. was through Mallard Creek to check in on wide receiver Marquez North.
"I previously had met coach Pearman when I went to Clemson the last time," North recently told CUTigers.com. "We've kind of built a pretty good relationship. I call him from time to time. He came up here to see me.
"We really couldn't talk, but he told my coach he gave me an offer. He wants me to come up there when I can."
The offer was one the 6-foot-3, 210-pound wide receiver wanted to get.
"I was really happy, because I like Clemson," North said.
He visited Clemson earlier this year for the Boston College game. A return trip to Tigertown has been set for Jan. 28 Junior Day.
"With Clemson, I just like the coaching staff because they seem real humble and ready to play," North said.
"I don't have any particular favorites. I'm just neutral right now," he said.
As a junior at Mallard Creek, North had 19 touchdown receiving, four rushing and four on kickoff returns.
As a sophomore at Lumberton High School, where North played quarterback, he had 22 touchdowns, throwing and rushing.
