Tigers in good position

This 6-foot-7, 310-pound junior offensive tackle visited Clemson on Saturday to watch the Tigers' bowl practice.

East Forsyth High School [Kernersville, N.C.] junior Brandon Smith made the trip to Tigertown with his mom.

"It went great. I just felt like this is where I want to be. It was a great feeling, a great feeling," he told CUTigers.com.

Smith was invited to make the visit by defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks.

"Coach [Mike] Dooley brought me over to coach Brooks while they were stretching," Smith said. "I was on the field with the players. I talked to Dabo Swinney. I basically met all the coaches on Saturday. I met some of the players."

What was the message from Swinney?

"He said he was coming to my house next year to have a little dinner and hang out with the family," Smith said. "He just asked me how everything was going with school and working out."

He also visited Clemson for the Florida State, Wake Forest and Boston College games. His other campus visits included a trip to N.C. State for the Clemson game and a stop in Chapel Hill.

Smith is still waiting to pick up his first offer.

"I can tell you what, Clemson is at the top of my list," he said. "The connection I've got with the coaches. Even my mom has a good connection with the coaches. It just feels like home to me."
