Gurley announcing next Friday

With the process wearing on him, Todd Gurley, the No. 14 running back in the class of 2012, is ready to bring an end to his recruitment.

"I think I'm going to announce next Friday," said Gurley, a 6-foot-1, 192-pound running back from Tarboro (N.C.). "I'm ready to get done with the process. I just feel like it's about that time to wrap everything up."

Drained by a busy week at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl and with the decision heavily weighing on him, Gurley says he hasn't decided on a school yet, but will select from Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina, and NC State.

"I'm looking for a coaching staff I feel comfortable with," Gurley said. "A team I feel like is the best fit for me and that I'll fit in. I want to feel like I could see myself with those players for the next three years, because that's who I'm going to be around."

Gurley has officially visited each of his finalists, except UNC. He doubts he'll end up taking an official trip to Chapel Hill.

"I've been there so many times so I don't think it will matter," Gurley said.

Between now and his decision date, Gurley will have a few in-home visits, but will mostly try to formulate his collegiate decision on his own by attempting to clear his mind.

"I really just want to chill and relax and just think about everything," Gurley said.

Georgia's coaching staff visited Gurley's home on Wednesday and NC State visited Thursday afternoon. He'll host Clemson on Friday night. UNC wanted to also set up an in-home visit for Friday, but Gurley declined since Clemson's stay had already been scheduled.

"I'll probably have like one or two [in-home visits] next week," Gurley said. "I really don't want to have that many. I have a lot to think about."

Gurley says he has had a few phone conversations with new UNC head coach Larry Fedora. The most recent occurred Tuesday.

"[Fedora] was just talking to me [and] trying to get me to come down there from the [basketball] game Saturday," Gurley said. "I won't be able to make it because I have something to do."
