Rooks takes in Clemson/Duke

The lone commitment to Brad Brownell's 2013 signing class, Patrick Rooks was in Clemson on Sunday for the Duke game.

Rooks, a 6-foot-3, 160-pound junior at Charlotte Christian School, visited Clemson for the first-time since the South Carolina game.

"It was a really good game. I saw a lot of good things in the coaching staff and off the team," Rooks said of Sunday night's game against the Blue Devils. "Clemson is a premier ACC team and we're a program coming up."

The No. 24 shooting guard in the class of 2013 enjoyed the environment at Littlejohn Coliseum.

"It was loud," Rooks said. "We had to get down there early to stay out of traffic. It was a great environment. The student sections were crazy."

He believes his future at Clemson is bright.

"I really feel like I'll fit in really well to their program," Rooks said. "I saw a lot of good things tonight, a lot of run-off screens. That's my style of game."

Since the commitment to Clemson last May, other schools have backed off of him. At the time of Clemson's offer, N.C. State, UCLA, Georgetown, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Xavier, and Virginia were also expressing interest.

Rooks has enjoyed a good start to his junior season at Charlotte Christian.

"We're 11-5...everything's going well. We have a tournament next weekend in Georgia. We're going to play Norcross, so that'll be good competition for us," he said.

So far this year, he's averaging 15 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.
