RB Mike Davis Profile
The Stephenson High School [Stone Mountain, Ga.] committed to the
Gamecocks while on his official visit in Columbia last week. His trip to
Clemson had been planned prior to that commitment.
"I'm just trying to see how it is up there and hang out with the players
coaches," Davis told CUTigers.
Ranked as the No. 10 running back in the class of 2012, Davis liked what
he saw while in Columbia for the visit.
"It was just me, the way I felt up there. I felt like it was the place for
me to be," he said.
Davis joined Stephenson teammates Carlos Hood and Kyle Fleetwood in South
Carolina's 2012 class. Their former teammate, Kadetrix Marcus, signed with
the Gamecocks a year ago.
"That helped and me having a teammate already up there helped," Davis
He added, "I like the fact that it's headed in the right direction. They
run the ball a lot. I think I can come in and help out."
Clemson, Davis said, shares those same qualities.
"They run the ball also. They went to the ACC Championship. They had a
good season. Of course, my brother went there," he said.
Davis' brother is former Clemson running back James Davis.
As a senior at Stephenson last fall, Davis rushed for 1,923 yards and 21
