Edwards Misses Camp; Still likes Clemson

Greensboro Dudley's Jamaal Edwards has college recruiters drooling with his 6-0, 200-pound frame and his outstanding speed. The North Carolina native recently ran a 4.37 at the Shrine Bowl combine in Charlotte. CUTigers.com spoke with Edwards Sunday evening about his recruitment and his top six schools headed into the summer.

The first team All-state running back rushed for 2,378 yards and 31 touchdown last year while leading his team to the state championship game.

His impressive offer list stands at 15 and includes his top 6 of Miami, Florida State, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina and Clemson. There is no leader at this time as Jamaal states that all of his top 6 are still very much in the mix.

Jamaal did not make it to the Clemson camp yesterday, but he expects to finalize his summer camp plans when he meets with his coach at school tomorrow.

Don't expect a commitment from Jamaal until later this fall. He does not plan to wait until signing day but he does want to take all of his visits before committing.

Greensboro will be a frequent stop for coach O'Cain this fall, as Jamaal is not the only highly recruited prospect at Dudley. DeMario Pressley is one of the top defensive lineman in the country and Martel Thatch is one of the top defensive backs in North Carolina.

Does Jamaal think the three talented prospects will be a package deal? "I really don't know. What fits me might not fit DeMario and Martel."

The talented running back is familiar with the depth chart at Clemson as he reviewed it with the coaching staff when he attended the spring game in early April.

How will a team's depth chart impact his decision?

"I want a shot at early playing time but I also want a place where I feel comfortable."

Coach O'Cain's interest in Jamaal appears to be keeping the Tigers in the running. "I have a lot of interest in Clemson because they are showing a lot of interest in me."

Jamaal stated that Woody Dantzler is his favorite Tiger player of all time. We will continue to keep you updated on Jamaal Edwards, right up to signing day.
