In the 71-60 win over Wake Forest on Saturday, Booker scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds, handed out three assists and blocked three shots.
"Today we got good play from Devin Booker," said Brad Brownell. "I thought he made some improvements."
Booker hit 6 of 11 shots from the field and all four attempts from the free-throw line.
"As long as I just keep being aggressive, going to the boards hard, taking it up strong, I can be a factor to deal with," he said.
"Coach called the timeout and say, ‘Hey, pick this up.' That's something we're going to have to do on the road. We can't get down 6-0 before it happens." - Bryan Narcisse
"Coach talked to us in the huddle. Don't let those missed shots get to us. They're going to eventually fall, as long as we keep playing defense. The offense will come. Sure enough it did." - Booker
"I actually said something to our staff. When I was talking to them upstairs right before we came down, I didn't like the look in their eyes. It's a 12 o'clock game and we haven't done this much, especially at home. I didn't know if we were ready for a competitive fight. We were a little bit on our heels." - Brownell
"It took a little while, but we got to it. It took a couple of defensive stops, but after that we were pretty set." - Booker
"We just didn't make shots. Only had two turnovers in the first half, so I thought our ball movement was good and our concentration was good." - Brownell
Building the momentum…
"It was definitely a must have. Two road games are definitely going to be hard. Their atmosphere, their crowd and their teams just getting into it playing at home. If we keep playing like we played tonight, we'll be OK." - Booker
"You can't ever underestimate the power of momentum. Coach always tells us that. It's something we're looking to take into Virginia. Obviously Virginia is playing really well in this point in the season. We needed this win today at home, going into the road environment." - Narcisse
"We've got two wins…we definitely want to keep it going." - Booker
