Tigers Offer Holliday First

Hamilton Holliday, powerful offensive lineman from Marietta has added a handful of offers from the a variety of conferences- and more may be just days away. Clemson was the first to jump on board, offering a full football scholarship and a lot of enthusiasm for the Walton High School rising senior.

The good word came straight from head coach Tommy Bowden over the phone in the middle of May. Holliday is intrigued but needs to take a closer look. "My grandfather went to Clemson," the Georgia recruit discloses. "I want to see [Clemson] and get to know everybody. Clemson is one of those football factory schools, and I think I need to see what they're all about."

A number of schools indicated that scholarships would soon follow, though the trio that have thus far given a firm offer includes Louisville, Indiana and Middle Tennessee State.

Despite the obvious desire indicated by these four schools, Holliday maintains that he has a list of three other schools he calls his favorites. "Right now I'd say that Stanford, North Carolina and Auburn are my three top schools," he proclaims.

And one of those schools is expected to take the plunge next weekend when the Walton lineman takes an unofficial visit. Holliday and his father, Roger, will make a whirlwind tour of schools in the region next week as they hit Duke next Thursday morning, Clemson that afternoon and following morning on Friday, North Carolina Friday and Saturday and then finally Vanderbilt on Sunday. The trip to Duke will just be informational, while he will partake in the (mini-)camps of Clemson, UNC and Vanderbilt.

Duke and North Carolina have both indicated to Holliday through his high school coach that they are about to offer, and the Georgia standout expects both will do so while they have him on campus this weekend. "I'm anticipating both will offer," he says. "Both are very interested and both have very nice schools." North Carolina State has also indicated they will offer Holliday soon.

We will continue to keep you updated on Hamilton Holliday, right up through signing day 2004.
