FB/LB Michael Briggs
Ashbrook High School
Gastonia, North Carolina

Briggs is a gameplanning nightmare for high school coaches as he plays both linebacker and fullback. Coach O'Cain is recruiting the Gastonia Ashbrook star at linebacker where he finished his junior season with 7 sacks and 189 tackles.

Briggs currently has no offers, but that should change quickly as he is getting a great deal of attention from North Carolina, Notre Dame, Clemson and others. "My top five are North Carolina, Notre Dame, Clemson, South Carolina and Navy," said Briggs.

What factors will determine where this prize recruit will land? "Definitely the football program and academics. I plan to major in either science or criminal justice."

Briggs is one to watch over the next few months as he plans to make a commitment before the end of summer.

The state baseball championship kept Briggs from attending the Tigers camp this past weekend, but Briggs was in attendance for the spring game at Clemson. Briggs plans to camp at North Carolina, South Carolina, Navy and Notre Dame over the next several weeks.

Although Briggs will not be camping at Clemson this summer, the Tigers are still very much in the mix. "Clemson is a great school. They have a lot of tradition and a really good program."

We will continue to keep you posted on this outstanding prospect from North Carolina, right up through signing day 2004. Top Stories
