DE Corey Vereen Profile
Clemson's offer to Corey Vereen joined the likes of Florida State,
Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Minnesota, UCF and USF, all of whom had already
offered the 2013 prospect from West Orange High School in Winter Garden,
"I just heard about it," Vereen told CUTigers on Monday night. "My
dad told me. I thought they would [offer]."
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound junior was excited to pick up an offer from the
"I was kind of relieved. I know that all my hard work has paid off. But I
was pretty happy," he said.
Vereen also learned about the offer from Georgia Tech on Monday, which
came as a bit of a surprise.
"We've had contact with them in the past. We've talked to them. It hasn't
been on a regular basis. But they just offered me today," he said.
Junior day visits have been set for Florida and Tennessee.
Plans for a third trip up to Clemson have not been set, but Vereen is
pretty familiar with the campus. He visited last April and again in the
summer for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp.
Defensive ends coach Marion Hobby serves as Vereen's primary
recruiter for the Tigers. They spoke just last week, and Vereen got the
sense that an offer could be on the way.
"We talk to him all the time. We have a good relationship with him up
there," he said.
As a junior at West Orange, he had 105 tackles and 16 sacks.
