SC athlete will have options

One of the top athletes in South Carolina's rising senior class visited Clemson late last month for Junior Day.

Conway High School junior quarterback Mykal Moody has yet to pick up an offer, but several schools are currently expressing interest.

Along with Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech and West Virginia are in contact.

He recently spoke with CUTigers about his Junior Day trip to Tigertown.

"It was pretty good. It was nice up there. Everything was cool the coaches were good," Moody said.

He added, "We went to the basketball game. We ate dinner, visited the campus and everything like that -- met the coaches."

The Clemson staff is evaluating Moody for a couple of different positions.

"Right now, they're high on me as a receiver, quarterback and defensive back," he said.

Is there a preference for one position over another?

"I'm really not sure. It just depends on how they want to use me," Moody said.

It's pretty much the same for all the schools that are taking a look at the 5-foot-11, 180-pound prospect.

"Most schools are looking at me for the same thing Clemson is looking at me," he said. "A quarterback, receiver, DB -- a lot of schools are looking at me as a quarterback and some as a slot receiver."

Moody also visited South Carolina for junior day, and next week, he'll head to Georgia Tech.

Who could offer first?

"I could see Georgia Tech, Clemson or South Carolina, one of those three," he said.

Is there a leader?

"I like certain schools, like Oregon, Georgia Tech and Clemson. I like those schools, but I don't have a favorite," he said.

As a junior Moody passed for 1,500 yards and rushed for 1,400 yards. He threw 20 touchdowns and rushed for another 29. Top Stories
