Previewing North Carolina

CLEMSON - Brad Brownell won't waste any time talking with his team about Clemson's 0-55 record in Chapel Hill, N.C.

WHERE: Dean E. Smith Center (21,750) - Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Tigers' second-year head coach would rather treat Saturday's trip to North Carolina just like any other on the schedule.

"We just talk about strengths and weaknesses of North Carolina, our weaknesses," he said. "We try to put together a plan to win the game."

Here's the problem: there aren't many weaknesses to speak of when talking about North Carolina [22-4, 9-2 ACC].

"They don't have a lot of guys playing right now. Several of their guys are hurt. They're only playing about six or seven guys," Brownell said. "It's not that problematic for them. You hope that maybe you can wear them down a little bit…they don't slow their style down because they're playing six or seven guys."

And those six or seven guys are pretty good.

Harrison Barnes is second in the ACC in scoring with 17.7 points per game while Tyler Zeller is seventh with 15.7.

John Henson leads the conference in rebounding [10.3]. Zeller is third [9.6].

Kendall Marshall, who is second in the country with 9.6 assists per contest, has a big fan in Brownell.

"He's a player that makes other guys better. His basketball I.Q. and passing ability is as good as anybody I've seen in college," Brownell said.

He's impressed by the Tar Heels' front court trio, too.

"[They are] certainly the most talented team in our league and one of the most talented teams in the country. [It's] an incredible front line with Zeller, Henson and Barnes," Brownell said.
