Late last week, CUTigers caught up with Saluda defensive tackle Kwamelle Barnes.

"Just Clemson and Carolina," he said of the schools that are expressing interest.

"The other day I got a letter from North Carolina. I filled out a sheet with my name and schools interested in me -- all of that. I sent that back to them."

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound sophomore has visited one campus so far.

"I've been to Carolina. I went there two weeks ago for junior day," he said.

Barnes is still learning about Clemson.

"I was planning to visit there the 25th of this month, but then I realized the junior day is March 3. I'm going to go up there then," he said. "I want to check out the academic program, the athletics and all that down there, to see how it is."

As a sophomore, Barnes had 37 tackles, three sacks, seven tackles for loss and two recovered fumbles.

His current max on the bench press is 280. He also squats 460 and power cleans 235. Top Stories
