DE Lewis Neal Profile
Clemson offered in that afternoon. That morning, it was Ohio State.
The 6-foot-2, 235-pound junior prospect from James Hunt High School in
Wilson wasn't surprised when the Tigers came through with their offer.
"Because I talked to them [before] -- I knew they were going to offer me
sooner or later," he told CUTigers earlier this week.
Neal spoke with the Tigers' staff over the phone on Tuesday.
What was the message?
"The history with Clemson, with defensive linemen and how bad they want me
and stuff like that," Neal said.
He plans to make his first visit to Clemson on March 3, but the trip
hasn't been finalized.
"I'm not sure, but that's when I want to try to go," Neal said.
What does he know about Clemson?
"I know they won an ACC Championship this year and I just know they
produce some good d-ends," Neal said. "I've been talking to Tyquan Lewis.
He's been telling me good things about them when he visits. Hopefully,
when I go, I'll experience those same things."
His Ohio State offer came from former North Carolina interim head coach
"I was surprised by that one… it was just wonderful," Neal said.
Within the last week, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt have
offered. North Carolina, N.C. State and East Carolina had already offered.
"All of it in one week, it just hits you like, crazy. It's crazy. It makes
your mind go everywhere," he said.
Purdue, Wake Forest and Maryland could be offering next.
"I've got to take my visits first, before I make a favorites list. That's
what I'm doing now, taking all my visits," he said.
Neal has visited N.C. State. He'll head to Wake Forest on Saturday,
possibly Clemson the following week and South Carolina on March 31.
As a junior, he had 88 tackles and eight sacks.
