With the Tigers trailing 69-66 in overtime, he banged in his first from long-range with 1:17 left in the game. Then, on the following possession, he gave Clemson the go-ahead with another in front of the team's bench with 15 seconds to play.
"Up to that point, I wasn't making a lot of shots," said Young, who finished 2 of 7 from behind the 3-point line. "I was really frustrated. I've really got to give a lot of credit to my coaches, my teammates."
Because of his struggles in regulation, Young had his doubts when he let go of the game winner.
"It felt good, but tonight I was kind of struggling. I kind of didn't know, for sure. It felt good when it left my hand," he said.
Said Tanner Smith, "The play was setup perfectly…Andre hit his right leg out, threw it up in the air and it rolled around. That's always great to see."
Tanner Smith's free throws at the end of regulation…
"The first one didn't want to go in. I think all the air that got sucked out of the gym [from the crowd] might have pulled it through." - Smith
"He gave us a chance. We took advantage of that." - Young
"With a guy like that, it's almost like there's no doubt that he is going to make them and that's what seniors should do." - Mark Gottfried
Milton Jennings with a team-high 17 points…
"We're just trying to get Milt to continue to be confident and take shots…just try to simplify things a little bit. He did a good job today of playing well through foul trouble. He's been a guy, when things like that happen -- he gets called for fouls and gets in foul trouble -- it's hard for him to sometimes keep his emotions in check and relaxed, and still go make good plays." - Brownell
"Milt's been playing exceptional. He's been really vocal. He's been a helper out there for the freshmen and really been a leader out there on the court. He's really been playing well. Obviously, it shows in his play." - Young
"His ability to stretch the defense is so key for us. It gives [Devin Booker ] room down low to operate. Milt's done a great job just stretching the defense, just playing with intensity. That's really helped us. Even though he fouled out, his energy really helped us." - Smith
T.J. Sapp's bounce back…
"He's had a couple of good days at practice this week. Felt like he understood, maybe defensively, that he felt better with this game plan than some of the other guys. It didn't hurt that he made a shot early to give him some confidence." - Brownell
A much needed close win…
"To keep hanging in there, to keep fighting and working, I guess the moral of the story: we need to get to overtime. We've now won two close games in overtime." - Brownell
"It feels great. I'm really proud of our guys for really gutting out that win. It was definitely a team win tonight." - Young
"The only other overtime game we've had, we've won. It seems like we know how to win in overtime. We've just got to get there. But, tonight, it was just guys making plays. It just shows how basketball is so fragile. A game can go either way at any time." - Smith
"I couldn't be happier for Andre and Tanner. For those guys to make those last two plays…those guys deserve that. They've given a lot to our team." - Brownell
