Officially offered by the Tigers

Clemson offered this 6-foot, 175-pound junior cornerback while he was in Tigertown last weekend for spring practice.

CB Desmond Lawrence Profile

It was the second time Charlotte Christian cornerback Desmond Lawrence visited Clemson.

"I went to the DB meeting with coach Cheese, sat in and saw film, the things he critiqued [and] the things that he liked. I went to the practice, watched the DBs workout [and] watched them do 1-on-1's," he told CUTigers after the visit.

The offer was one that he was expecting.

"Coach [Danny] Pearman told me I had one already, but I think it was just a communication issue," Lawrence said. "That one was an official one. That is another big-time offer, a big-time program in the ACC and really turning it around, winning the championship and being in a good bowl. It's a good look."

Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, N.C. State, South Carolina and Virginia have offered.

He's visited N.C. State and North Carolina for their junior days. A trip to Notre Dame could be in the cards later this month. Duke will host him after that trip.

"No favorites right now. The schools I'm definitely looking at are North Carolina, N.C. State, Duke, South Carolina and Clemson," Lawrence said.

A decision could come as early as the end of the summer.

Lawrence had 60 tackles, six pass breakups and three interceptions as a junior. On the offensive side of the ball, he had 800 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.
