Venables offers Florida DE

First-year Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables has offered this four-star defensive end from the Miami area.

DE Alvonte Bell Profile

Venables sent the offer to Everglades High School [Miramar] junior defensive end Alvonte Bell.

"I know they won the ACC last year. They have a good offense. They have that freshman wide receiver, Sammy Watkins. He won freshman of the year," Bell told CUTigers in a recent interview.

"I have some interest in them."

Along with Clemson, Illinois, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, West Virginia and SMU have offered.

"I don't have a top-five or anything," he said. "I'm going to try to do that after the summer, after I get my grades up."

The four-star prospect has taken two visits this spring.

"The only places I've visited for junior days are USF and [Miami]," he said.

At USF, "I met with coach [Kevin] Patrick, the defensive tackles coach, and coach [Vernon] Hargreaves showed me around the football facilities."

At Miami, "They gave me a tour of the school. They were showing me some of the new improvements that they're adding at their school."

For the immediate future, Bell has no other visits planned.

During his junior season, Bell had 40 tackles, seven for loss, 11 sacks, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
