Leggett talks commitment, future plans

Jordan Leggett is a standout tight end prospect who committed to Clemson earlier this month. Read on to see everything he's saying about that and more.

Jordan Leggett is up to close to 235 pounds on his 6-foot-5 frame, thanks to a lot of time spent in the weight room since his junior season ended.

"I've been in the weight room a lot lately, two a days, that's about it lately, and getting ready for 7on7 tournaments," Leggett said.

Leggett was in Bradenton for a 7on7 tournament over the weekend with a team made up of Pensacola-area players.

"I was trying to compete, tried to win for the Panhandle. No one thinks about us up there. I was trying to bring home a win," he said.

Leggett has become one of the state's most heavily recruited tight end prospects and talked about what separates him from others.

"I got the height and that's about it. I feel like I'm more athletic. I can create a big mismatch on the safeties. I can get the jump ball and I can do a quick route because I have the footwork for it."

Leggett committed to Clemson a few weeks ago during an unofficial visit there. He talked more about that.

"They rolled out the red carpet for me. As soon as we got to Junior Day everyone else went somewhere else and I went straight to the head coach's office. He said enjoy the day...It was great. The academics were good. My dad liked it. I feel like that could be a second home for me."

Despite the commitment, Leggett says he still plans on taking some official visits during the season.

"I still wanna take my senior visits, just to enjoy the process, for vacations. I'm solid to Clemson though. Louisville, USF, and UCF are still talking to me," he said.

The Navarre High standout finished his junior season with 45 catches for 608 yards and three touchdowns. He was impressive again over the weekend at the 7on7 tournament in Bradenton.
