Rick Ray to Mississippi State

According to several reports, Clemson associate head coach Rick Ray has accepted the head coaching position at Mississippi State.

According to Gene'sPage.com, Ray was offered and accepted the position on Sunday. A press conference is scheduled for Monday.

Ray, who spent the last two seasons at Clemson as associate head coach under Brad Brownell, spent the previous four years at Purdue.

During his two-year stint with the Tigers, Ray ran the point as the main recruiter for signees Bernard Sullivan, T.J. Sapp, Landry Nnoko and Adonis Filer.

Ray was a part of the 2006-07 Purdue staff that signed arguably the top class in school history, a group that Scout.com rated No. 5 in the country.

He also made stops at Northern Illinois, Indiana State and Nebraska-Omaha.
