Vincent a Tiger Already?

Courtney Vincent, one of the top linebackers in South Carolina, is ready to pull the trigger on a verbal commitment to recruting coordinator David Blackwell and the Clemson Tigers. CUTigers.com caught up with the defensive star this afternoon to find out when exactly he's going to make his annoucement public.

Vincent, who was a first team All-State selection as a junior, had a very impressive 168 tackles including 4 sacks and 2 interceptions as a junior. With a 6-1, 200 pound frame and outstanding 4.6 speed, Vincent has all the tools to be an outstanding linebacker. "I've been timed as fast as 4.61 in the forty," stated Vincent.

The prize recruit from Fairfax attended camp at South Carolina yesterday. "It was alright. I hurt my ankle so I only ran the forty one time. They didn't offer yesterday. They don't really need linebackers."

Vincent also camped at Clemson earlier this summer. "I loved it. I like everything about Clemson. I know they need linebackers."

The star linebacker from Allendale-Fairfax High School went on the record with CUTigers about his plans to commit to the Tigers.

"I think I'm going to call coach Blackwell tonight. I will meet with my coach in the morning. I think I will probably commit tomorrow but I will definitely commit before the end of the week."

Coach West is recruiting Vincent but coach Blackwell is a big reason Vincent is ready to commit to the Tigers. "I really like coach Blackwell a lot. He is younger and he relates to the players. He definitely knows what he's doing."

We will continue to keep you posted on this outstanding defensive prospect from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2004.
