In-state RB picking up offers

One of the state's top 2013 running backs was in Clemson last month for Junior Day. Since then, he's picked up a pair of BCS offers.

RB Demetrius Odom Profile

West Virginia and Wake Forest are the most recent offers for Bamberg-Ehrhardt rising senior running back Demetrius Odom.

"Those were surprises. I didn't really expect those schools to call me up and say they wanted me. That was a big, big shock," he said in a recent interview with CUTigers.

Neither of the two schools had much contact with Odom.

"I thought I was just going to stay with the ones I had now. It seems like more and more keep coming in," he said.

Arizona State, N.C. State, Miami of Ohio, North Carolina A&M and Youngstown State have also offered.

Clemson is among the schools expressing interest. The Tigers hosted him for a visit last month.

"I liked the campus a lot. It was real nice. It was nice being up there. The coaches, they were nice, too," Odom said.

It was his first visit to Tigertown.

"They said, after they looked at my tape, they were real interested in me. I'm not sure if they're going to offer, but they just said they were interested," he said.

Georgia Tech is also in contact.

Who leads?

"Clemson has been a favorite of mine ever since my teammate Martin Aiken signed. I've been really getting into them. I kind of like Georgia, too."

Odom plans to hit Clemson, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech for visits this summer.

As a junior, he rushed for 1,400 yards with 18 touchdowns.

Last season was his first at Bamberg. He lived in Conyers, Ga. and attended Heritage High School prior to the move. Top Stories
