CUTigers.com receives word that the University of Miami and Virginia Tech will be extended invitations to join the Atlantic Coast Conference. A news conference at league headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina is expected to be held sometime on Wednesday.
This will mark the third time the ACC has expanded. The conference added Georgia Tech in 1979 and Florida State in 1992. The South Carolina Gamecocks left the league in 1971.
