2014 Intro: Quaven Ferguson

EASLEY, S.C. - Chad Smith has a pair of rising juniors at Easley High School who've already caught the eye of a few college recruiters. One is a 6-3, 270-pound defensive tackle.

DT Quaven Ferguson Profile

His name is Quaven Ferguson.

The sophomore, who had 79 tackles and 16 tackles for loss last season, said his favorite defensive tackle to watch is Ndamukong Suh.

"He's a monster. I just like the way he plays, his aggressiveness," Ferguson told CUTigers in an interview at his school.

Smith thinks his top defensive lineman has a chance to be a pretty good one, too.

"His upper body strength is starting to catch up to his lower body, but he is unbelievably explosive, to be his size. I think the sky's the limit," Smith said.

He believes Ferguson is athletic enough to play offensive tackle or defensive end.

"We'll use him on the defensive side because we play our best athletes on defense," Smith said. "He's quick enough, he could play defensive end for us, coming off the edge. He's a man."

Clemson, Alabama, South Carolina and Auburn have sent mail to Ferguson.

He's only visited Clemson.

"I like how everything is all close together. It's not too spread out, confusing. It's all close together and there are a lot of people. And it's close," Ferguson said.

This summer, he would like to camp at Clemson, South Carolina and possibly Duke. Clemson hosted him last summer.

What other schools would he like to visit?

"I'd like to go to North Carolina and Georgia, places like that."
