Brooks checks on Memphis DE

Earlier this week, Clemson defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks made a stop through Memphis, Tenn. to see 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end.

Brooks, who's entering his fourth-year on the Tigers' staff, checked in on Mack Weaver at Harding Academy.

"They came to the school Monday. They talked to my coach, but they couldn't talk to me," Weaver told CUTigers earlier this week.

Clemson offered Weaver on Thursday.

"I haven't talked to them lately, but I have been in contact with them a couple of times before [Monday]," he said.

Weaver added that he has a "very strong interest in Clemson."

"I know that they have a great football program, always, as well as a great academic program. I know that their d-line coach has sent more d-linemen in the last three or four years than any other coach has."

A visit to Tigertown could be in the works.

"I think they're coming to my spring practice…if a visit to Clemson is needed, we'll most definitely make it there. As of right now, it's not scheduled, but it is a possibility," Weaver said.

Mississippi, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Virginia and Vanderbilt have offered.

This spring, he visited Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Memphis and Vanderbilt.

As a junior, Weaver had 64 tackles and 12 sacks.
