Kamara talks Clemson, summer plans

BUFORD, Ga. - Alvin Kamara, one of the nation's top class of 2013 running backs, was named the top player at his position during last weekend's Nike Football Training Camp.

The award earned him an invite to The Opening.

"It feels great. There's a lot of great competition out here, a lot of good running backs. Terrence Upshaw from Northview and some other guys, but it feels good to come out with the MVP award," he told CUTigers after last Saturday's event.

He added, "Just competing, there's great competition. You've got to compete wherever you go, whether it's college, high school or the ultimate, the pros."

Kamara, the No. 15 running back in the country, holds offers from several big-time programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee and USC.

"Clemson, we still keep and touch, me and coach [Tony] Elliott. They're still helping themselves with me," he said.

What's on tap for this summer?

"For the summer, I know I'll be at Southern Cal, for sure [and] anything else that pops up. For right now, I don't really have a true schedule."

Kamara took visits this spring to Alabama, Florida and Georgia Tech.

As a junior, he rushed for over 1,300 yards and 17 touchdowns.
