Several schools have also been through Hope Mills, N.C. to see the No. 8 defensive tackle in the class of 2013 -- USC, Virginia, Florida, South Carolina, Miami, LSU and Alabama.

Gilmore had a recent conversation with Brooks.

"He was pretty much saying they really need me at Clemson and I'm one of the guys they need, they want," Gilmore told CUTigers in a recent interview.

He added, "Clemson is pretty high on my board. It is a good school. It's one of the better schools in the ACC. It's a great college town."

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound prospect hopes to return to Clemson sometime this summer.

"I do want to get down there, I should get down there," he said.

It should be a busy summer for Gilmore.

"I want to take as many visits as I can in June," he said.

Along with Clemson, LSU, Florida, Ole Miss and Southern California are the other schools that Gilmore is strongly considering.

The Bayou Bengals lead.

"It's a college town, but they have parts that are city-ish. It's not all college town but there are LSU fans everywhere. I love the campus, the players and coaches," Gilmore said.

As a junior, Gilmore had 79 tackles and two sacks, forced four fumbles and blocking a field goal. He also recorded three catches for 43 yards. Top Stories
