Hobby visits Atlanta-area ATH

Clemson defensive ends coach Marion Hobby made a visit through Tucker High School to check on one of the school's top 2013 prospects.

ATH Juwaan Williams Profile

The Tigers' second-year assistant stopped by Tucker last week to see Juwaan Williams.

Williams told CUTigers about his most recent conversation with Hobby.

"He just expressed that he wanted me to come see Clemson and what all they had to offer. He was just trying to set a date for when I could come," Williams said.

Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Iowa State, Pittsburgh and Tulane have also been by the school. Nebraska is scheduled to be visit later this week.

Who leads?

"It's still Vandy and Tech as my top-two favorites. Florida State would have to be my third-favorite going into the summer."

Clemson is fourth.

"They can move up once I see the campus and talk with the coaches," Williams said.

The Tigers are sitting that high because of Hobby.

"The relationship me and coach Hobby have built over the past month or so, and what he's told me about the program -- all the news he's offered to me, academically and football-wise," Williams said.

Clemson has offered Williams as a defensive back. At Tucker, he plays quarterback. As a junior, he rushed for 600 yards and scored 11 touchdowns.
