S Marqui Hawkins Profile
Among the prospects he'll check in on while in town is rising senior defensive back Marqui Hawkins.
"Me and coach Cheese have been keeping in contact for the last few weeks. He's just coming to the school, [telling me] to keep my grades up and when I'm taking the ACT," Hawkins said in a recent interview with CUTigers.
The three-star safety is up to 12 offers now. His most recent was from USC.
"I'd never heard from them, so that was great," Hawkins said.
Clemson, Mississippi State, Tennessee, North Carolina, Ole Miss and Florida are among the other schools that have offered. Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and Colorado have already been by the school.
Hawkins currently has no favorites.
"I'm thinking about narrowing it down in the middle of the season or in the middle of the summer," he said.
And what will he be looking for from the potential suitors?
"I'll be looking for the depth chart, what position I'll play, on the depth chart. How the older guys treat the younger guys when they come in."
Clemson has offered Hawkins as a safety.
"I really want to play receiver, but I just really want to get on the field, so I don't care where I play," he said.
As a junior, Hawkins caught 31 passes for 635 yards and five touchdowns. As a sophomore, he had 21 catches for 386 yards and five touchdowns.
