Clemson, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, South Carolina and Tennessee are just a few of the schools to throw their names into the hat. On Friday, McNeil will name his top-six.

Not bad for a guy who just started playing football about a year ago.

"I'm just a kid living a dream," McNeil told CUTigers on Sunday after at the Charlotte Nike Football Training Camp. "I just keep going and going. I keep saying to myself, ‘When am I going to wake up?'

"Every day it just gets more real."

The very lucid dream continued on Sunday when was invited to The Opening.

"I just feel like it's a dream true. I can go have a vacation, get my mind of recruiting and go do something I love to do, and that's play football," he said.

Less than a year ago, McNeil was recruited to the sport. Before, he was just a basketball player at Hillside High School in Durham, N.C.

"My coach was one of my closest friends before I played. He baited me into playing football, and I gave it a try. Then, I received my first offer, from East Carolina," he said.

In his first season on the gridiron, McNeil had 60 catches for 600 yards and seven touchdowns, and the offers started to pour in.

The dream just keeps on getting better. Top Stories
