Lawrence Timmons, one of the top linebackers in the Southeast, has 10 offers and counting, but the in-state schools have some serious work to do. CUTigers.com caught up with the Florence star and we've got the latest on his impressive offer list and his new top 5.

LB Lawrence Timmons
6-1, 220, 4.56
Wilson High School
Florence, South Carolina

Timmons, who has 4.5 speed, was an impressive two way starter as a junior as he pulled in 42 receptions for 690 yards and 14 touchdowns. Linebacker is where Timmons will see the field on the collegiate level. The outstanding linebacker had 95 tackles including 4 forced fumbles last season.

The 6-1, 220 pound rising senior from Wilson High School has offers from South Carolina, Clemson, South Carolina State, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maryland and Virginia. "My top 5 is Miami, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee and Maryland," said Timmons. Florida, Miami and Virginia are recruiting Simmons the hardest at this moment.

Coach Blackwell is recruiting Timmons for the Tigers, and he has some ground to make up with the prize recruit. "If I stayed in-state I'd have to select South Carolina right now. I haven't met any of the Clemson staff at this point."

What factors will Timmons consider when selecting a college? "They've got to have a good school. I want to go to a winning team."

Early playing time is not critical for Timmons. "Well I know I'm going to have to work for my spot wherever I go," stated Timmons.

Don't expect an early decision from Timmons as he wants to take all of his visits before making a commitment. We will keep you updated on this outstanding linebacker from South Carolina, right up through signing day 2004.
