Alabama DB talks new offers

This safety from Jeff Davis High School in Montgomery, Ala., is quickly becoming a hot commodity on the recruiting trail.

Several schools have offered the fast rising prospect.

"Clemson and Southern Miss offered me," said Chequan Burkett. "I just spoke to coach Harbison [Clemson] a few minutes ago. He told me he wants me to attend their camp next week. He said they really like my highlight tape. He said the head coach and defensive coordinator really liked my highlight tape.

"It's a big offer. It one of the schools I like a lot. They are a school I would like to attend. I plan on going up there next week for the camp."

Burkett continued to discuss his interest in the Tigers.

"I like the tradition," he said. "I like the coaching. I like their style of play. I saw coach Harbison's testimony on YouTube. I really like it."

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound athlete will attend Alabama's camp on Tuesday. He plans to camp at Auburn this weekend. He has reeled in several scholarship offers including Clemson, Vanderbilt, Southern Miss, South Alabama, Memphis and Arkansas State.

"I really like Clemson, Memphis and Vanderbilt," Burkett said. "I really like the academics at Vanderbilt. I like Memphis because of their tradition, and they are going to the Big East. I would like to be a part of that." Top Stories
