Five-star visitor

For five hours on Monday, the Clemson basketball staff had five-star shooting guard Sindarius Thornwell on campus for an unofficial visit.

Brad Brownell, Earl Grant and Steve Smith hosted the top in-state player from 12 o'clock to just after 5 that evening.

"It went good. I spent time with coach Grant, coach Smith and coach Brownell," Thornwell told CUTigers later that night.

He detailed the visit.

"We just went and ate, just hung out, basically. There was nothing really different, just hung out," Thornwell said.

The No. 19 overall player in the country has seen Clemson plenty of times already.

"I know the campus by heart. I really know everything," he said.

So far, Brownell and Grant have tag teamed in the effort to acquire the No. 4 shooting guard in the class of 2013. Now, Smith also figures have a hand in the push.

Thornwell knows Smith from when he was an assistant at Georgia Southern.

"That's good for Clemson. Coach Smith, he's a good coach," Thornwell said. "Me and him have a good relationship, like me and coach Grant do. So [the addition of Smith] is good for their staff."

Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Georgia, Cincinnati, Memphis, South Carolina, N.C. State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech are among the schools that have also offered.
