Dabo Camp defensive preview

This year's Dabo Swinney Football Camp gets underway later this afternoon. Here's a look at some of the top defensive names expected to be on hand.

Defensive End

Four-star Demarcus Walker will also arrive to Clemson on Friday and will be in town until Sunday. He'll head to Clemson after a trip to Auburn. Later this month, Walker will visit Alabama.

The newly offered Rakim Peters will stop by Clemson on Saturday but will not be participating in the work outs.

Peters, who's an under-rated prospect as a two-star, also has offers from Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, Purdue, Syracuse and Wake Forest.

Rising senior Kirk Donaldson of Davidson Day [N.C.] is also scheduled to be in town for camp. Another rising senior without an offer who's scheduled to participate is Eastside's [Taylors] Davaris McGowens. A rising junior with an offer, Andrew Williams of Eagles Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, Ga., has made plans to camp at Clemson. Fellow 2014 prospect Mike Taylor will also be in town. Taylor will be up from Allendale-Fairfax.

Defensive Tackle

Clemson will host a few offered 2013 defensive tackles this week. Jay Woods and Joey Ivie are among those listed as visitors this week.

Woods, a four-star who's ranked as the No. 31 defensive tackle in the country, has been offered by Georgia, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, South Carolina and USC.

Ivie, a three-star, has offers from Florida, Florida State, Miami, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Several other defensive tackles will be up from Georgia. Jeremy Patterson is set to be in from Jesup Couny. Ken Allen of Elbert County and Johnny Dwight of Wilcox County [Ga.] are on the list, too. All three are in the 2014 class.

Clemson will have a fair share of in-state defensive tackles, too. Lee Eddleman will make the short ride over from Daniel. Quaven Ferguson will trek down from Easley. Neither of the rising juniors have been offered.

The class of 2014 duo from Saluda will be up – Kwamelle Barnes and Dexter Wideman. Naquez Pringle of Carvers Bay will also visit.


Clemson commit D.J. Greenlee has plans to head over to Clemson from Daniel High School.

Another offered linebacker due in Clemson this week is Chris Register from Dudley [Greensboro, N.C.].

Javion Duncan of Woodmont [Piedmont] has plans for a second-straight appearance at the Clemson camp. Daniel will also send over rising junior Solomon Brown.

From Ponte Vedra, Fla., Dillon Bates is scheduled to be in this week.

Defensive Back

Clemson commit Jadar Johnson will make his way up from Orangeburg-Wilkinson. So will Grayson [Loganville, Ga.] cornerback David Kamara, who holds a Clemson offer.

Competing for Clemson offers are cornerback Marcus Edmond of Lower-Richland and free safety Jahnari Devoe of Allendale-Fairfax. If he's healthy enough to compete, safety Mykal Moody of Conway could potentially earn an offer this week.

Easley's C.J. Fuller and Woodmont's Jawanza Adams will visit Clemson and work out for the coaching staff.

The brother of 2013 running back Tyshon Dye, Marquice Dye, will camp this week.
