DE Dane Rogers Profile
Rogers, who's ranked by Scout.com as the No. 73 defensive end in the class of 2013, has been a model citizen during his high school career.
"First thing is, the thing I like to say about Dane, he's a low maintenance, high character guy," Barnes told CUTigers on Tuesday. "I don't have to spend a lot of time on things [with him] that don't involve football, strength training and academics.
"He's a do right guy in the community."
On the field, he's been a good one. In the second game of his freshman season, Rogers was inserted into the lineup on Crest's defensive line.
As a junior, he recorded five sacks and was named All-Big South Conference.
"On the field, he's played defensive end here, in a really good program. Dane has played in two state championship games and started here since he was a freshman," Barnes said. "Obviously, he's a good player and has been a good player."
At the next level, Barnes thinks Rogers could play either defensive end or tackle.
"I think his body size will allow him to do either one. He's a high motor guy and has a ton of experience…he's been involved in a lot of games, which is good, I think," Barnes said.
