Clemson, Auburn lead for LB

This junior linebacker from Alabama with an offer from Clemson paid a visit to Tigertown on Thursday afternoon.

Clemson hosted Carver High School [Montgomery] linebacker Shaun Hamilton.

"It was nice. I really enjoyed it, touring the facilities and sitting down to talk to coach [Dabo] Swinney," he told CUTigers earlier this week.

What stood out?

"The No. 1 thing was the atmosphere. Everyone is all in and together. Everyone there is working hard to do something."

Hamilton received his offer from Clemson in the first week of June. There are several factors that have piqued his interest in the Tigers.

"Taking a visit there, it really opened my eyes. They're going to be really good these next few years," he said. "Coach [Brent] Venables, he's my favorite coach at Clemson. I was talking to him. He would be my linebackers coach and I would love to play for him."

Hamilton also has offers from Florida State, Auburn, Miami, Ole Miss and Tennessee.

"Right now, I have two favorites. They're Auburn and Clemson," he said.

He also visited Florida State and Ole Miss this summer. A trip to Tennessee in on the docket for later this month.

The 6-foot-1, 222-pound linebacker grew up pulling for Auburn.

As a sophomore, he had 122 tackles and 16 tackles for loss. Top Stories
