Decision day for Williams

At 5 o'clock this afternoon, four-star wide receiver Mike Williams will announce which in-state school he will be attending next season. The Lake Marion High School [Santee] senior is scheduled to pick between Clemson and South Carolina during today's press conference.

"He could really develop into a deep threat and a guy that can get the ball, break a tackle and go," said Lake Marion head coach Chris Carter, in an interview with CUTigers earlier this spring. "He hasn't even tapped his potential yet. If he gets with the right coach and the right system that utilizes everything he can do, he can be a weapon.

"Everybody kind of compares him to Alshon [Jeffery]. I would more so compare him to a mixture of a Terrell Owens and an A.J. Green.

Plenty of schools have taken notice of the nation's No. 27 wide receiver in the class of 2013.

In addition to the Clemson and South Carolina offers, Williams also offers from Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

Clemson was first. Jeff Scott dropped it off at Lake Marion during the May evaluation period in 2011.

As a junior, Williams hauled in 65 receptions for 1,269 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also completed 20 of 35 passes for 354 and three scores. On the defensive side of the ball, he registered 25 tackles.

As a sophomore, he hauled in 42 catches for over 700 yards and five touchdowns, and passed for 450 yards and three scores.

Clemson's wide receiver class could add yet another highly touted prospect. The Tigers have already picked up commitments from three-star Ryan Jenkins [No. 60] and four-star Demarcus Robinson [No. 14].

CUTigers will be on hand for the announcement. Top Stories
