North addressed that this week from the Mallard Creek practice field.
"I'm open," North said. "I still like [Georgia and UNC], but I'm open. I don't really get into the recruiting thing. I don't think about it at all."
Furthermore, North says he hasn't put any thought into how or when he'll make a verbal commitment. He does, though, plan to attend several college games this fall.
"I haven't decided what schools, but I'm pretty sure I'll go to some games," North said.
One likely destination is UNC. He attended several games in Kenan Stadium last season and his father is a Tar Heel fan.
"I haven't looked at the schedule, so I don't know which games," North said.
With his senior football season quickly approaching, the rare occasions when recruiting creeps into North's consciousness are even fewer. Mallard Creek, which opened in 2007, has cemented itself as one of the state's top football programs, but has yet to get over the hump and win a state championship.
"Our potential is really high," North said. "How far we go really depends on the work we put in and the effort."
Mallard Creek's season doesn't start off easy. The opener, on Aug. 17, is against fellow in-state powerhouse Butler. The contest is expected to draw such a large crowd that it's being held at Memorial Stadium.
North has been sidelined since suffering a groin injury during a seven-on-seven passing tournament at Wake Forest in July. He is walking around and catching passes, but hasn't dressed or officially participated in practice thus far. He will practice fully for the first time on Monday and fully expects to be in the lineup for the season opener.
