OG Austin Droogsma Profile
The tide has changed for offensive line prospect Austin Droogsma (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) as it was looking as if he was headed to Florida State.
But the ‘Noles have gone lukewarm on him. So this offensive guard prospect has two different leaders heading into the fall.
"My top two are Clemson and Mississippi State," Droogsma said. "Those are the two schools that have shown the most interest in me. It used to be FSU and Clemson. I just have not been feeling the love with FSU. They just dropped off. I am not a priority for them."
Meanwhile, Dan Mullen and Mississippi State offered Droogsma and quickly made a big impression.
"I visited them and camped there and they have been No. 3 for a while," Droogsma said. "They are a great school and now it's them and Clemson. I have been there a few times and have also been to Clemson several times since they offered."
According to Droogsma he has scholarship offers from FSU, Clemson, Mississippi State, Kentucky, South Florida, Georgia Tech, Marshall, Memphis and Louisville have all offered. Georgia Tech was the first and Marshall was the most recent to offer.
"As a sophomore I camped at five schools," Droogsma said. "I camped at Georgia Tech and walked away with an offer. Then I camped at FSU and the same happened. In two days I had two offers. I knew this was becoming real."
Droogsma may be more talented him track. This spring he won both the shot put and discus.
"I always thought track was my ticket," Droogsma said. "But then things blew up. I want to try and play both sports in college. The schools seem okay with it as long as I keep my grades up."
Droogsma, 6-foot-4 and 310-pounds, says he will set up his official visits soon.
"I know I will visit both Mississippi State and Clemson for sure," Droogsma said. "I want to see what life is really like at both those schools. Then we will see what happens."
Droogsma visited Clemson earlier this summer for Dabo Swinney's annual football camps, and spent significant time with Sammy Watkins and Cole Stoudt.
