Another OL Commitment Coming Soon?

Ben Gabbard continues to list the Clemson Tigers as his leader as he considers when to pull the trigger with a commitment. CUTigers.com caught up with the outstanding lineman as he visited his aunt in Georgia, and we've got the latest on his new top 5 and his commitment timing.

Gabbard has updated his top 5 to include Vanderbilt and Stanford but the Tigers remain at the top of his list. "My top five are Clemson, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Stanford in that order," said Gabbard.

If another school comes along with an offer is it likely to change his leader? "As of this time I don't think it's going to change. I think Clemson will stay on top. They are recruiting me the hardest and they came through with an early offer."

Coach Blackwell has made quite an impression on the rising star. "I got a letter from Coach Blackwell a couple of days ago. He told me they are going to recruit me harder than any other school and they certainly are."

The powerful lineman would like to wait a while before making a commitment but as the offer list increases for the Tigers Gabbard is getting close to a commitment.

"I would like to wait to take my visits before committing but I am watching the commitment list closely. I know Clemson only plans to take 5 or 6 offensive linemen. If they get close to 5 commitments I will probably go ahead and commit." Gabbard is aware that Clemson received their 3rd OL commitment this week from Virginia's Tony Willis.

The star lineman from Maryland attended the Georgia Tech camp last weekend as he prepares to vacation in Florida. "It was alright. I have some family in Georgia."

Gabbard's parents will be joining Ben in Georgia and then the family will be heading to Daytona Beach for a few days of vacation. Expect the family to spend a great deal of time discussing when Ben should commit to the Tigers.

We will continue to keep you updated on this talented lineman from Maryland, right up through signing day 2004.
